Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies were called out to the 600 block of Cottonwood Rd. Thursday, November 30, 2017, for reports of shots being fired. 

When deputies arrived they found one person inside of a building suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower back. The victim was taken to Kern Medical for his injuries. 

After investigating, deputies found that the man had run into a nearby business after being shot at, the victim then began shooting back at the suspect and the suspect fled the business on foot.
