One shot in South Bakersfield on Monitor Street

Police were called to the scene of a shooting on Monitor Street Friday afternoon.

The call came in about 1:42 p.m. regarding one person who was shot. Officers arrived in the 4600 block Monitor and found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Two subjects were seen running from the area immediately after the shooting and officials are asking for anyone with information to contact police. 

Officials said two people were seen running from the area immediately after the shooting. Police describe them as:

Subject #1: Hispanic male, mid-teens, heavy build, wearing white T-shirt, blue jeans 

Subject #2: Hispanic male, mid-teens, thin build, wearing white T-shirt, blue jeans

One resident who lives in the area told 23ABC a male victim was shot three times, being struck in the back, lower body, and buttocks. The resident said she knows the victim and he is expected to survive.

Students traveling through the area going home from school have to detour around the crime scene.

Officials are asking anyone with information to contact BPD at 327-7111.
