One Woman is dead after being hit by a car in Southwest Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Stockdale highway near the Outback Steakhouse at 6:10 p.m.

When they arrived they found a woman who was declared dead at the scene.Officers also discovered at the time of the incident that she was holding a small dog who survived the collision.

The Driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol and Drugs are not currently being investigated as causes of the crash.
