BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Today marks one year since the passing of former Mayor Harvey Hall.

Hall founded Hall Ambulance and died on May 19, 2018 due to complications with Creutzfeldt-jakob disease.

He served 16 years as the city's mayor. Hall is mostly remembered for celebrating all the good in Bakersfield and for his snazzy fashion style.

Cal State Bakersfield announced in January that it would honor the former mayor's legacy with the Harvey L Hall Plaza at the Icardo center.

CSUB officials told 23ABC News that the plaza is on pace to be unveiled next year.

Hall Ambulance took to social media this week to share ways in which community members could pay respect to Hall.

Some ways included reading a book to a child, picking up trash around town , or writing a hand written note to someone special.

Hall was the 25th and longest serving mayor in Bakersfield.
