BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Wildfire season has begun and one organization is looking for people to help them spread the message of safety.

The Red Cross wants volunteers to join them to prepare for wildfires. You can volunteer for disaster responder, disaster preparedness, or disaster sheltering.

They'll be providing a virtual presentation to learn about volunteering from home and on-site opportunities for Kern River Valley, Frazier Park and Tehachapi. That presentation takes place Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5 p.m.
