BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — SoCal Edison has reported that at an estimated 68,000 Southern California customers are impacted by its Public Safety Power Shutoff with nearly 13,000 of those customers being in Kern County.

According to the company's website, the power shutoff's current status has been in effect since Wednesday around noon.

Another 8,734 Kern County customers are under consideration, including those in Bear Valley, Stallion Sprngs, Lebec, Tejon Ranch, and Caliente Creek.

SoCal Edison said that the PSPS in place are due to weather conditions that may create the potential for elevated fire risk.
