BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — If you party at the Padre Hotel Friday and Saturday nights, you will have to pay a $10 cover charge for access to the venue's lounge area.

The Food and Beverage Manager of the hotel, which is located in Downtown Bakersfield, told 23ABC that the cover charge was implemented a few months back to increase security throughout the building.

The hotel said that after the $10 cover charge was added they did not see a decrease in attendance. They also said that staff members hope that customers wouldn't mind the cover charge if they know the hotel is safe.

Guests that are staying at the hotel does not have to pay the $10 cover charge. Also, the $10 cover charge only applies to patrons entering the lounge/club area where the DJ, bar and dance floor are.
