Parents outraged after being locked out of graduation ceremony

Posted

Several Standard Middle School parents are outraged after being locked out the school's promotion ceremony for 8th grade students.

According to Paul Meyers, District Superintendent for the Standard School District, officials closed and locked the doors at 6:30 p.m. to minimize disruptions to the event. Myers issued the following statement:

We are deeply sorry for the disappointment this caused the students and their families. Our administration team will meet to debrief last night's event and see how we can improve the ceremony for next year, as well as discuss how we will increase our communication and expectations with our students' parents and families.

Parents told 23ABC, the school's graduation tickets did not say they had to be at the event by a certain time.
