The park, located off Nile and Monterey, is currently an empty lot. It will eventually be named for Officer David Nelson, who was killed on June 26, 2015 when he pulled over a silver Hyundai whose driver led him on a fatal pursuit.
The pocket park is being built with the help of Children First Campaign, which helped raise over $230,000 in its honor.
