PD: Suspicious backpack in downtown Bakersfield is not considered dangerous

UPDATE (Nov. 11, 2016, 3:42 p.m.): The backpack found in downtown Bakersfield has been deemed safe.

The area has been cleared and Bakersfield police shared that they were just going through protocol.

The backpack was considered dangerous because no one had claimed it.

The Bakersfield Police Department bomb squad is investigating a suspicious backpack left at the corner of 21st and L Street at the conclusion of the Veteran's Day Parade around 1:08 p.m.
