A fatal vehicle versus pedestrian accident was reported in Southwest Bakersfield Tuesday night.
Around 9 p.m., officers found an adult male in the road suffering from major injuries. The victim was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries.
The pedestrian was crossing the road in an eastbound direction outside of the crosswalk wearing dark clothing. The vehicle was driving northbound on New Stine Road.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated.
Drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor for the driver. It is unknown if they were an influence for the pedestrian.
