53-year-old Jose Jesus Cordero was crossing Flower Street on Sunday, October 9, 2016 around 7:25 p.m. when he was hit by a car.

Cordero was walking southbound in the traffic lanes from the north sidewalk when 35-year-old Mitchel Virgil approached in his 2001 Lincoln at an unknown speed. Cordero walked into the Lincoln's path and it struck him.

Cordero was transported to Kern Medical where he died from his injuries.

Alcohol is a suspected contributing factor in this collision.
