BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield Police say they are searching for witnesses as a female pedestrian remains in critical condition after being hit by a car October 4 in Southwest Bakersfield.
According to BPD, around 7:14 a.m., a female pedestrian was hit by a female driver in a 4-door hatchback on Akers Road and McKee Road. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with major injuries. At this time, she is currently in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. BPD does not believe alcohol, drugs, or speed were factors in the collision. BPD does not know if the pedestrian was inside of a crosswalk when she was struck.
Police say they have reviewed surveillance video in the area and investigators noted a possible witness was walking in the area at the time of the incident. The potential witness is described as an unknown race female, wearing light blue athletic clothing and light blue shoes.
Investigators are asking the unidentified woman or any other witnesses to contact BPD at 327-7111.
