BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — (UPDATE: 9 a.m.) The Kern County Coroner identified the woman struck and killed by a semi-truck after walking onto Highway 58 as Layloni Ariel Ashely Rue.
A pedestrian who was hit by a big rig in East Bakersfield was also hit by multiple vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol saying the pedestrian, identified only as a 23-year-old woman, was in the area of Mount Vernon and Highway 58 when they were hit Sunday night.
The CHP says for an unknown reason the woman wandered into the eastbound lane of Highway 58 and was hit by a big rig.
After that, the CHP says, "The pedestrian was subsequently struck several times by an undetermined amount of vehicles."
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
