Coroner identifies man struck, killed by car on Ming Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE: The Kern County coroner says 61-year-old Jesus Ibarra was the man fatally struck by a car while crossing the street Monday night.

Officials say a postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm cause and manner of Ibarra's death.

Another victim hit and killed by a car while trying to cross the street outside of the crosswalk.

Police officials say the unidentified adult male was running across Ming Avenue Monday night around 9:30 p.m. when he was hit by a car going east on Ming near New Stine Road. He was reportedly taken to the hospital where he later died.

His identity has not yet been released. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors in this crash
