A person is fighting for their life after they were hit by a big rig early Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was crossing eastbound lanes of Highway 58 near Weedpatch Highway just after 2 a.m. Friday when they were hit by a big rig. 

The CHP says the victim suffered major, life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition. 

The CHP says the driver of the big rig is cooperating with the investigation.
