BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is looking for the driver of an SUV involved in a deadly hit and run in Central Bakersfield on Tuesday night.

According to BPD, a man in a wheel chair was crossing the street at the intersection of Chester Avenue and 3rd Street just before 8 p.m.

Police say the man was in an unmarked cross walk, but was crossing legally. Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made and police say the suspect vehicle is a white, full-size SUV.
