PG&E customers can expect their electric bills to go up in the new year.

On average combined electric and gas service bills will increase by about $2 for most customers. This is a 1.5 percent increase in costs.

The company has already filed with the California Public Utilities Commission to increase electricity rates again later in the new year.

The increased rates come as PG&E tries to recover from bankruptcy. They are currently facing liabilities linked to wildfire victims.
