Residents in Bakersfield could soon see their gas bill spike if a proposal from PG&E is approved.
The California Public Utilities Commission is considering a proposal from PG&E after the company requested money to fund a new project for their natural gas and transmission and storage system.
The project will cost over 1 billion dollars and PG&E is hoping to fund this by taking money out of customer pockets by increasing gas bills.
If the proposal is passed, Bakersfield residents will see an increase of about $1.11 or 2% by January 2019.
