With temperatures starting to rise and summer upon us, local cooling centers will soon be filling up.

Tuesday morning, the Kern County Aging and Adult Services Department will get a boost thanks to a grant from PG&E.

On Tuesday, the utility company will issue a $30,000 grant to help fund and operate cooling centers around Kern County.

On the valley floor, cooling centers will open once the temperature reaches 105 degrees.

To locate a cooling center, log onto www.pge.com/coolingcenter/. Or the cooling center locator toll free line is 877-474-3266.
