With temperatures starting to rise and summer upon us, local cooling centers will soon be filling up.
Tuesday morning, the Kern County Aging and Adult Services Department will get a boost thanks to a grant from PG&E.
On Tuesday, the utility company will issue a $30,000 grant to help fund and operate cooling centers around Kern County.
On the valley floor, cooling centers will open once the temperature reaches 105 degrees.
