UPDATE: A public meeting will be held at 6 p.m., at the Porterville College Student Center on Thursday.

The Pier Fire located in the Tule River Canyon above Springville grew about 100 acres overnight.

The fire, which started on Wednesday, has not yet been contained. Areas under mandatory evacuation are:

• Pierpoint Springs
• Wishon
• Doyle Springs
• Alpine
• Sequoia Crest
• Cedar Slope
• Mountain Aire (Rogers Camp)
• Camp Nelson

Nearly 700 firefighters are working to contain the fire at the time.
