Two suspects arrested in connection to fatal shooting in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — New details from the shooting that left one man dead in East Bakersfiled. Bakersfield police now have a second suspect in custody.

The first suspect arrested was 18-year-old Veronica Perez. She was arrested on homicide charges. The second suspect arrested has now been identified as 26-year-old Michael Cervantes. He was also arrested on homicide charges, as well as conspiracy and participation in a street gang.

Officials originally got a call about a man lying in the road with at least one gunshot wound just after 10 p.m. near Brown and Oregon streets. That man has been identified as 59-year-old Bryan Lee Redman. Medical personnel pronounced Redman dead at the scene.
