BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield Police received a call just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near 4200 Auburn Street.

When they arrived, they determined an adult male pedestrian was riding a skateboard across the street and was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Speed, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the police.
