BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The City of Bakersfield's Recreation and Parks Department is planning on removing 14 trees on California Avenue next week. Officials say the trees were determined to be in danger of falling over.
Two lanes of westbound traffic on California Avenue between A Street and Oak Street will be closed Monday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews cut down the trees.
The city plans to replace the trees with 14 48-inch Canary Island pines in about 6 weeks.
