A 16-year-old was taken into custody following a 6-hour standoff in Oildale.
According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of gunshots fired in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue just before 7 p.m. Thursday.
When deputies arrived they found the teen, who was armed with a handgun. The teen then ran off and started jumping fences. He eventually went into a nearby apartment complex where he barricaded himself in one of the units.
About an hour after SWAT arrived on scene a man and three boys came out of the apartment, but the teen remained inside.
It wasn't until six hours after he barricaded himself in the apartment, and after moving to the apartment nextdoor through a common attic, that he surrendered.
The 16-year-old had a no-bail felony warrant out of Tulare County.
