Power should be restored to all customers in Oildale less than 90 minutes after an outage was first reported.

A power outage was reported in Oildale impacting nearly 2,500 Pacific Gas & Electric customers.

The outage was first reported at 7:46 Thursday morning.

Katie Allen, spokeswoman for PG&E says the outage was caused by an equipment failure. As of 9 a.m. only about 115 people were without power. She said it should be fully restored "soon".

An outage map shows it covering Meadows Field, but Meadows spokesman Richard Strickland says the airport is not impacted.

It's not known what caused the outage. PG&E says power should be restored by noon.

As weather prepares to come into Kern County on Thursday, Allen says this is a good reminder to stay safe when it comes to power outages and possible issues involving electrical equipment. A list of what to do can be found on PG&E's website.
