UPDATE: New details in a car crash from Thursday afternoon involving a pregnant woman. In surveillance video, you can see a silver sedan crash into a blue minivan at that intersection just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Bakersfield Police Department said the pregnant woman was ejected from one of the vehicles landing between the car and the curb.

Doctors had to deliver her baby following the crash and keep the newborn in the NICU. The 22-year-old woman had to have her leg amputated from the knee down as a result of her injuries .

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.


Traffic on Beale Avenue and Monterey Street was backed up Thursday afternoon following a two car accident that resulted in a pregnant woman being ejected from one of the vehicles.

Reports state that the woman is 32-weeks pregnant. Fortunately, the 22-year-old woman appeared to suffer only moderate injuries to her leg.
