BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Opportunities for Learning Public Charter Schools will wind down operations and terminate staff at six locations starting June 30, according to a WARN notification.

The notification says 76 positions including principals, teachers, and coaches will be cut at locations in Palmdale, Canyon Country, Lancaster, Ridgecrest and Valencia on June 30 or within 14 days thereafter.

Below is a list detailing the personnel to be affected by the winding down of the company's operations:

In a letter to 23ABC, Opportunities for Learning says that it will not be winding down operations or cutting down on staff at its locations on June 30 and will continue to provide quality educational services to students of Kern County.

Opportunities for Learning also says they are in the process of changing its corporate structure and part of that process includes distributing notices to employees in compliance with the WARN Act of 1988. These documents reportedly provided advance notice of their termination from the company. Opportunities for Learning says these employees concurrently received documentation including an intent for them to be re-hired by the new company.

School officials also stated that the locations mentioned in the WARN notification will host summer school sessions, a variety of programs and classes starting July 1.
