Public Health: 108 positive COVID-19 cases at Kingston Healthcare, 60% of local deaths at facility

County officials revealed new numbers in regard to the cases of COVID-19 at a local nursing home. Kern County Public Health Director Matt Constantine said nine deaths have been reported from that one facility, about 60% of all coronavirus deaths in the county.

Kingston Healthcare Center reported as of Sunday 62 residents have tested positive for the virus, along with nine deaths. Another 46 healthcare workers have also contracted COVID-19.

The state initially sent an assistance team of 39 members to the Kingston center and as of Saturday, the facility requested another four teams. Three arrived this weekend with another team joining them Monday.

Constantine said the original request was for a total of 14 days but they have now requested another week on-site At least.
