City Council approved the construction and use of new metal detectors at Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center.

Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center requested the City to approve multiple security enhancements including metal detectors and more cameras.

Currently, the facilities are the only venues within AEG’s portfolio of clients that do not utilize walk-through metal detectors as part of the attendee screening process.

Six bids have been received from various companies with estimates ranging from $57,000 to $113,000.  The staff recommends acceptance of the bid and authorization of $90,000 from the Equipment Fund to the Arena Capital Improvement Budget.

The AEG staff is also requesting additional security cameras to be added throughout the facility.

Steve Eckerson, the general manager of Rabobank said venue visitors can expect to see the new technology in the Fall of 2018.
