Bakersfield Police Department officials said that Rafer Johnson Childrens Center has put themselves on lockdown on Friday due to people hearing sounds of gunshots nearby.

BPD officials added that sounds of gunshots were heard on the 700 block of 8th street.

Bakersfield City School District officials said the school was placed on lockdown at around 2:00 pm and the lockdown was lifted at around 2:14 p.m.
