Railroad crossing construction will close streets in Central Bakersfield next week

Posted

The Public Works Department has issued a permit to Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR).

UPRR crews and/or contractors will be installing new concrete panels and then replacing the asphalt adjacent to these panels to upgrade the existing rails and improve the ride quality at 30th Street and M Street crossing.

M Street will be closed to thru traffic north of 29th Street, and 30th Street will be closed to thru traffic between L Street and Jewett Avenue.  These sections of roadway will be closed to all thru traffic beginning Monday, December 12 at 4 a.m. through Friday, December 16 at 5:00 p.m.

Detour signage will be in place.  Motorists are reminded to obey flagging personnel and construction signs and to pay close attention to road construction vehicles and personnel while driving through this area.
