Railroad crossing improvements to cause traffic delays in East Bakersfield

Posted

Union Pacific Railroad is in the process of upgrading the railroad crossing on Baker Street between Sumner Street and Jackson Street, and the work has taken longer than anticipated.

City crews will be replacing the asphalt once the railroad has completed their work. The closure is expected to be in place until Friday, November 18.

The project is necessary to upgrade the existing rail and install new concrete panels to improve the ride quality through this area.

Motorists are reminded to obey flagging personnel and construction signs and to pay close attention to road construction vehicles and personnel while driving through this area.

The City of Bakersfield apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause the traveling public.
