Authorities are currently examining whether recent attacks on fiber optic systems in Northern California might be linked to a more complex plot against the upcoming Super Bowl.

There has been a series of deliberately severed fiber optic cables in the bay area.

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are now looking to see if those cases may be tests by those who plan to threaten the Super Bowl and related events.

Attacks on fiber optics could cause massive problems and could potentially stop the Super Bowl itself.
