BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Red Cross of Kern County is looking volunteers and donations to make sure homes have working smoke alarms.

On Saturday, they will be making their way from home to home conducting inspections in East Bakersfield. If a home does not have a working alarm, the Red Cross will install a free one.

Red Cross officials say they are looking for volunteers to help them during their inspections. If you would like to volunteer and help the Red Cross inspect and install smoke alarms you can meet them at Bakersfield college at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

For more information you can call the American Red Cross at 661-324-6428.
