One of the originators of the Bakersfield sound, Red Simpson, was honored with a plaque at the Rasmussen Senior Center Monday.
The plaque is the first in a series planned by Citizens Preserving History in tribute to the Bakersfield Sound.
Simpson used to visit the senior center often to perform.
