The plans for the first Bakersfield marathon and half marathon are underway.
Registration for Bakersfield's first official city marathon went live on Thursday.

The event will include a marathon, half marathon, a relay and a 5k fun race.
The starting line and finish line celebration will take place at Cal State Bakersfield
The participants will also have an opportunity to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Officials say the participants of the 26.2 mile course will run through dozens of iconic neighborhoods including the Stockdale Financial District, Oleander, Downtown Bakersfield, Mill Creek, Kern County Museum, Bakersfield College and finally along the Panorama Bluffs before returning to the finish line on the scenic Kern River Parkway.
Prices for the Marathon start at $75.
