The Kern County Sheriff's Office says some AT&T customers may experience difficulties calling 911 due to a phone outage.

According to KCSO, the outage is affecting AT&T customers in the Ridgecrest, China Lake, Boron, and California City areas. KCSO says residents may have issues contacting 911.

KCSO says the outage includes cell towers and landlines. Citizens may not be able to reach 911 in the event of an emergency. KCSO says it may be possible to use the 'Text to 911' feature on cell phones.

KCSO says there is no estimated time of repair at this time.
