The 49-million dollar runway-rehabilitation project is underway at Meadows Field.               

The airport is launching the project designed to improve the entire airfield.

House majority leader and Bakersfield native Kevin McCarthy will be joining other local officials for today's event.

The project will take place in three phases.

With phase one starting in April and phase three expected to be completed in November of 2018.
