UPDATE (12/2, 3:30 p.m.): Bakersfield Police have identified the suspect as 44-year-old Brandon Clark. He most recently resided in Big Sur, California according to police. He's currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

BPD is still searching for a vehicle believed to belong to the suspect; the vehicle is described as a 90's gray or silver full-size pickup with Utah license plates. The vehicle may be attached to a flatbed trailer.

According to BPD, the suspect is related to an employee of the hospital but the employee was unaware the suspect was there and had no contact with him prior to the incident. Police say it does not appear that the employee was an intended target of the suspect.

He faces numerous assault and firearms related charges upon release from the hospital.

The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave and a Critical Incident Investigation is underway, per department policy.
