BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Officials confirm a 14-year-old girl has died after being pulled out of the Kern River by rescue crews Saturday night.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, witnesses reported the girl going under water at about 6:15 p.m. near Hart Park and not resurfacing.

Rescue crews located the girl several minutes later and pulled her out of the water.

CPR was administered and she was rushed to the hospital, but KCSO said she did not survive.
