Carl Sparks, a former Kern County Sheriff, offered advice to officers in blue.

Sparks, who is now retired says he found himself in similar situations during his time on the force.

He says he understands the negative backlash BPD is having, but says the public needs to understand that investigations take time.

He also encouraged everyone to give the new Chief of Police, Lyle Martin a chance to investigate thoroughly.
