BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A Ridgeview High School senior is being recognized after reaching the one gallon blood donation milestone.

Houchin Community Blood Bank gifted Annie Iturria a license plate cover after her most recent donation lifted her into the "1 Gallon Club."

One blood donation is equivalent to 470 ml of blood, or 0.0002 gallons, meaning it would take an estimated 8 visits to reach one gallon. Donors must wait at least 8 weeks between donations, according to the American Red Cross.

According to the American Red Cross, you must be 17-years-old in order to donate, or 16-years-old with the permission of a parent or guardian.
