The Kern River is at the highest levels seen in years, making going into the water very dangerous.
After multiple years of no water during the drought, this past winter saw that change with heavy rain and snowfall. Now, with temperatures rising and snow melting, the Kern River’s levels are quickly rising.
Officials and local river guides are advising people to be extra cautious this summer.
An informational meeting will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Kern River Camp Ground on 13375 Lake Ming Road to educate people on water safety and the latest conditions of the Kern River.
