The next time you visit the Spectrum Amphitheatre at the Park at Riverwalk, you might notice something new.
The City of Bakersfield said the Public Works Department started the process of removing the existing bench seating at the amphitheatre and inserting new chair-style seating will be installed by a contractor.
"Over the years, people who have attended events at the amphitheatre have complained that the seating was uncomfortable and they could not enjoy the concerts," the City wrote in a newsletter. "Most of the funding for the project is coming from the Public Safety & Vital Services Measure (Measure N) as the new seating will enhance the experience for attendees."
The City said funding for the project was approved by the City Council as part of the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 budget.
