BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In an announcement from the Thomas Roads Improvement Program L Street on the south side of 23rd Street will be closed for one week beginning Tuesday, July 16, at 6 a.m.
According to a statement, "the around-the-clock closure will affect access to and from L Street on the south side of 23rd Street. The closure is needed to complete drainage work in this area."
Drivers can use alternate routs on K Street and M Street.
"The drainage work scheduled through the weekend at Chester Avenue and at K Street will be completed and the streets re-opened prior to closing L Street. This work is not expected to impact eastbound traffic on 23rd Street or westbound traffic on 24th Street."
The city of Bakersfield wants to remind drivers to "slow down and watch for construction workers and equipment while driving through the work zone."
