The Bakersfield Police Department says robbery prevention begins with reducing the opportunity for thieves. BPD says they are doing what they can to educate local businesses in ways to prevent theft. 

BPD says when there's easy access to the expensive merchandise you become a target. 

The department community relations unit has established a system for local business owners where members of their department will come out and evaluate their business in hopes to make it harder for thieves to break in.
