MOJAVE, Calif. (KERO) — A rocket explosion at the Mojave Air and Space Port on Wednesday afternoon sent a column of smoke into the air.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, a hazmat crew was sent to the location along with fire crews due to potentially hazardous materials on the site.

There were no injuries as a result of the explosion.

The rocket was owned by ABL Space Systems
