BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Tower Craft & Bar in downtown Bakersfield welcomed community members for the first Ross Mathews' Dragtastic Bubbly Brunch Saturday morning. The brunch was created by GunMetal Productions and partnered with Mathews.

Mathews told 23ABC this would be the first in a series of drag brunches in Bakersfield. The art of drag has gained popularity over the years through shows like Ru Paul's Drag Race and actors like Shangela in "A Star is Born."

Performers took the stage, lip-syncing to popular artist like Beyonce and Katy Perry.

"I've always loved Bakersfield," said Mathews. "Anybody is welcomed here. Come in and we will close the door, because it is a crazy world out there and we will have fun for an hour and a haft."

The next brunch is scheduled for Saturday, August 17. Ticket information can be found on event brite and
