BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Ruben's Mexican Restaurant in Bakersfield has been closed by the health department as a result of multiple health code violations. A closed sign was posted Friday morning.
According to a report from the Health Department live and dead cockroaches were found in a number of locations in the restaurant including "walking on food preparation table" as well as bulk food containers, in the lobby, in the bar area, and in other locations.
Other violations included tiles coming off walls, accumulation of debris on the floors in the kitchen and prep areas, equipment soiled with debris, and management and staff failing to "recognize the health risk associated with cockroaches in a food facility."
The restaurant will remain closed until it has addressed the violations and is re-inspected.
